Across the Alola region, word was quickly spreading of a young up-and-coming Pokémon Trainer who was taking on the island challenge. Having started on Ula'ula Island, he had passed the trials of the island's two captains and defeated the powerful Kahuna in only a few days, much faster than any would have expected from a rookie trainer. The boy then traveled to Akala Island as his second island, where he had currently finished two of the three trials with similar ease. While the island challenge was going rather smoothly for the young trainer, he knew from the start that it would not be without its bumps in the road along the way. He had been able to clear Sophocles's trial easily enough, but his attempt at Acerola's trial was... interesting, to say the least. Finding the Ghost-type Pokémon was no easy feat, especially when they were busy playing tricks on the captain, which lead to her being squashed flat in many crazy and ridiculous ways. In the region of Alola, there is a tradition that has been upheld for many generations which serves as a rite of passage for all up and coming Pokémon Trainers. When a boy or girl reaches a certain age, they may attempt the island challenge, travelling across the four islands of Alola, overcoming a series of trials presented by the captains of each island, and finally challenging the Kahuna of the island to a battle.
